Very excited to have completed this retrofit and extension project in County Dublin.

The brief for this project was to improve its layout, increase its energy efficiency and extend to accommodate a young family of five to make it a more comfortable, sustainable family home.

The orientation was a key design consideration in the effort to reduce energy use over the lifetime of the house. The house was wrapped in external insulation and the remaining fabric was be upgraded to allow for a renewable heating system.

The extension is composed of pale brick with a rendered frieze at high level to provide visual link between the extension and the original house. Its simple material palette is durable & tactile while being sympathetic to its context.
